Re: Fire Prevention Division/Special Neighborhood Unit Task Force
Date: Monday, July 10, 2006
On Friday, July 7, 2006, the Union, along with Fire Marshal Barry Rickert met with
City Representatives to discuss the assignment of a Deputy Fire Marshal to the
Special Neighbor Unit Task Force.
The Union presented its concerns along
with the concerns raised by Fire Marshal Rickert, including the issue of only
one (1) Deputy Fire Marshal being afforded the overtime assignment and the
reporting system which did not include the Fire Marshal; after a lengthily
discussion, the parties were able to resolve the following issues:
- When the Unit is
assigned duties after normal business hours; the assignment of a Deputy
Fire Marshal on overtime shall be rotated among all members of the Fire
Prevention Division.
- The coordinator of the
Special Neighborhood Unit Task Force shall make weekly reports to the Fire
Marshal.
- The parties further
agreed that the Deputy Fire Marshal detailed to the Unit during normal
business hours, shall continue to be under the jurisdiction of the Fire
Marshal.
As a result of this meeting, the Fire
Marshal was satisfied with the outcome.
Thank you.
