Grievance 06-006: Filed at 1st Step (June 13, 2006) - The issue involves Rx payments concerning Fire Fighter Timothy Smith.
On July 6, 2006, the Union received the 1st Step (Chief) response to this grievance, the Chief has denied the grievance, he is basing his denial on the fact that information available to him at this time is that the current policy is consistent with the Bargaining Agreement language.
The Union will be submitting this matter to the 2nd Step on Friday, July 7, 2006
On July 13, 2006, the Union received the 2nd Step (City) response to this grievance, the City denied the grievance, that the provision of generic substitution has always been a part of the prescription drug benefit provided to employees.
The Union has submitted thi grievance to the 3rd Step (State Board of Mediation & Arbitration) on July 24, 2006
At a meeting held on August 23, 2006 - with State Mediator Michael Ricci and UPFFA Staff Rep. Dan Hunsberger, this grievance was discussed in length, as a result, the Union and City resolved this matter. Fire Fighter Timothy Smith will be reimbursed by the City for $35.00 out of pocket expense for a Rx payment. This issue surrounding this matter involved Tim getting a prescription filled and was given a "generic" brand rather than a "brand name".
