Uniontown has notified its entire paid fire department that all six members and the chief will be out of jobs by the end of the year, with volunteers to take their place.
Aug. 25--JACKSONVILLE -- Cherokee County volunteer fire departments will now charge fees for hazardous material incidents or motor vehicle accidents based on what department officials feel is a reasonable amount.
County Judge Chris Davis said this change will financially help departments over the prior method, which was in place before the Monday Cherokee County Commissioners Court meeting, when commissioners made a change.
Aug. 25--WEBSTER -- The Rostraver Township commissioners may have voted to decertify the Rostraver Volunteer Fire Department No. 1, but the Webster-based department isn't going away without a fight.
